Dr. Zeynep Balazünbül

Dr. Zeynep Balazünbül has been admitted to the Berlin bar since 2019. Prior to that, she spent three and a half years at a Berlin based e-commerce start-up alongside completing her doctorate, where she established the company’s legal department and oversaw its global trademark portfolio.

From 2019 to 2025, she was part of the trademark department of a renowned Berlin boutique law firm specialized in intellectual property law, where she focused on strategy, development, defense, enforcement, and management of global trademark and design portfolios.
At JBViniol, Dr. Balazünbül co-leads the trademark department together with Oliver Brexl and advises clients with a particular emphasis on trademark and design law.

Dr. Balazünbül studied law in Berlin, completing both state examinations, and broadened her international experience through extended internships at law firms in London. Her doctoral dissertation in humanitarian international law—supervised by Prof. a.D. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dr. h.c. Philip Kunig at Freie Universität Berlin—explored the legality of armed drones. The research was funded by a scholarship of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and published in 2021 by Carl Grossmann Verlag.
