Dr. Wiebke Fröhlich

Dr. Wiebke Fröhlich is practising as a lawyer in Berlin since 2024. Her main focus is on press and freedom of expression law as well as copyright law. She advises and represents media companies, journalists, non-governmental organisations and artists in all matters relating to reporting, reputation protection and judicial and extrajudicial enforcement of rights. A particular focus of her work is on statements in the digital space and AI-supported publications.

Dr Fröhlich completed her doctorate at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main on the regulation of algorithmic discrimination risks. At the same time, she worked as a freelance consultant, including for the Stiftung Datenschutz and as a consultant for the German government’s Third Equality Report.

She completed her legal clerkship at the Kammergericht Berlin with placements in the legal department of a public broadcaster, at a law firm specialising in media law and at the Bundesverfassungsgericht (BVRin Prof. Dr. Härtel).

During her studies at Humboldt University in Berlin, Dr Fröhlich worked as an editor and freelance journalist for dpa, ZEIT Online and Der Tagesspiegel, among others.
