Dr. Michael Funke has been a lawyer since 2017 and is a founding partner of JBViniol. He specialises in advising on the legal structuring and regulation of digital business models, particularly in the areas of data protection and data law, IT and copyright law, and new technologies.
As a specialist lawyer for information technology law, he advises companies on strategic and operational legal issues relating to digital business models and data, and helps them to meet legal requirements in practice. This includes implementing current European legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Act, the Digital Services Act and the AI Act, as well as dealing with national legislation relating to consumer, copyright and civil law.
Dr. Funke assists with the development of contracts and terms and conditions, the drafting of information texts and compliance documentation, and the design of data-driven products and services. He also provides support in litigation before authorities and courts.
Dr. Funke studied in Göttingen, receiving his doctorate from Prof. Dr. Gerald Spindler for a thesis on the informed consent under data protection law. Alongside his work as a lawyer, he lectures in digital economy law at the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
