David Copland is a U.S. lawyer admitted to the Illinois bar in 1996. He practices primarily in the field of U.S. trademark and unfair competition law. David Copland advises businesses of all sizes in diverse fields, including computer hardware and software, I.T. and cybersecurity services, coaching and coaching platforms, dietary supplements, aircraft production, building materials, and restaurant services.

In addition to his expertise in specific industries, David Copland has a particular focus: bringing European brands to the U.S. market. David Copland has regularly presented on U.S. trademark law for the IP LL.M. program at Dresden’s Technical University.

Before opening his own law office in Dresden, Mr. Copland worked for two decades for large international law firms based in the United States where he focused on U.S. and foreign trade identity matters.

Mr. Copland studied law at Boston University, completing a concentration in intellectual property with honors and graduating with a Juris Doctor degree. Prior to his legal studies he graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut and worked several years in licensing at HarperCollins Publishers.
